The war in Ukraine is therefore “an opportunity on a silver platter” for supporters of the terrorist group to carry out attacks in Europe.
A spokesman for the jihadist group also praised the recent attacks by members of the group in Israel and called on them to follow their example, where he called for an increase in attacks in the country amid growing tensions in Jerusalem.
The call for revenge for the death of Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi comes more than two months after the latter was killed during a US special forces operation in the northwestern Syrian province of Idlib, which is controlled by various armed Islamists. Group
The late Islamic State leader took office in 2019 after the death of the group’s founder, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in a U.S. operation in Idlib. The jihadist group announced Abu Hassan al-Qurashi as its new leader in March.
